Description
Franco D'Alpa graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Naples with a thesis on coastal erosion. He collaborated with the full professor of the Maritime Construction program at the University of Naples for a year.
He earned an international PhD from the University of Catania with a thesis on the consolidation of dredged materials and deposited in reclaimed basins.
For over 20 years, he served as a Technical Officer in the Italian Navy, responsible for designing and managing major maritime infrastructure projects.
Since 2023, he has served as Technical Director of the Eastern Sicilian Sea Port System Authority, heading the Maintenance, Environment, and Energy branch. In this role, he oversees maritime and port infrastructure projects and port decarbonization projects, such as cold ironing.
He oversaw the project presented to the Italian Ministry for the Environment and Energy (MASE) for the creation of a specialized shipyard for the development and assembly of offshore wind components.
He has spoken at numerous conferences on maritime works and projects related to the development of offshore renewable energy.
