Drew has been instrumental in advancing the Raz Blanchard NH1 Project in France, a landmark initiative in collaboration with the other shareholders of Normandie Hydroliennes, that has recently been awarded €31.3m by the EC’s Innovation Fund. Under his leadership, PMR is proud to be a key partner enabling this 12MW tidal array pilot, featuring four AR3000 turbines – the most powerful tidal turbines in the world. Scheduled for completion in 2028, this project is set to supply clean, sustainable, and predictable energy to 15,000 residents, contributing significantly to the EU's MRE deployment objectives. This "NH1" pilot project exemplifies Drew's commitment to achieving local economic, environmental, and social benefits through innovative tidal energy solutions. During his distinguished career, including leadership roles at Atlantis, Drew has spearheaded several pioneering initiatives: • Development of the largest output single rotor tidal turbine • Subsea turbine, foundation, subsea hub and cable installation systems • Deployment and grid connection of Japan’s first MW-class tidal energy system • Safe and efficient offshore intervention of turbines that have been operating commercially at the MeyGen site for over seven years Proteus technology has produced over 23 GWh of clear electricity to date, accounting for around 25% of the total EU/UK tidal energy production. These accomplishments reflect his deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the tidal energy sector, which has led to significant advancements in the cost efficiency and reliability of tidal systems. His expertise in managing complex enterprises has established him as a visionary leader and a trusted figure in renewable energy. Drew holds an MBA (Valedictorian) and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) with honors, blending rigorous academic training with practical experience to lead innovative and sustainable business strategies in tidal energy.
